Music and Musings With FFRF Co-President Dan Barker

The Salt Lake Chapter of the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRFSLC) is excited to announce that you now have not just one, but two chances to meet FFRF Co-President Dan Barker in late January.

On Saturday, Jan 24th at 2:00 PM Dan will be the featured guest at an FFRFSLC meeting to be held at the Sandy Library, located at 10100 Petunia Way, in Sandy. 

On Sunday, Jan 25th at 11:00 AM Dan will be the featured guest at a Salt Lake Oasis meeting to be held at the Parker Theater Studio, located at 3601 S. State Street, in South Salt Lake.

We invite you to come and join in for a lively time of community, music, and engaging freethought camaraderie. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge to get in.

Dan has a special connection to Utah and to Mormonism through his long friendship with Steve Benson, grandson of former LDS President Ezra Taft Benson and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for his editorial cartoons in the Arizona Republic newspaper. Several years ago, Dan combined his talent as a musician and composer together with Steve's talent as a cartoonist to create a show called "Tunes ‘n Toons", which they performed in Utah and other places across the nation. At both of the meetings described above, Dan plans to perform some numbers for us from that show.

One song from Tunes ‘n Toons, ”Salt Lake City Blues", feels especially timely given Dan’s visit plans. In it, Dan sings “I’m goin' to Salt Lake City. Salt Lake City here I come.” You can listen to this song by clicking here.
